MEDx Distinguished Lecture Nominations

We are now accepting nominations for the fall 2020 MEDx Distinguished Lecture speaker.

Our past speakers, and recipients of the MEDx Distinguished Lecture Award, are icons in their fields, and their achievements, spanning the disciplines of engineering and medicine, have had positive impact on human health. Past presenters are all Duke alumni from either the Pratt School of Engineering or the School of Medicine.

  • 2016 – Robert Fischell, M.S.* (E'51)
  • 2017 – William Hawkins III, MBA (E'76)
  • 2018 – Richard Stack, M.D. (Medicine faculty '81-'00)
  • 2019 – Mark Humayun, M.D., Ph.D.* (M.D.'89, HS '90-'93)

For the next recipient of the MEDx Distinguished Lecture award, we are looking for a person who works at the nexus of engineering and medicine, has built a bridge between the two disciplines and has walked across it. Duke MEDx supports diversity and strongly encourages nominations that reflect this value. While our preference is to continue to honor Duke alumni, we are open to other nominees.

MEDx is asking for your input to identify the next speaker. Please send your suggestions and a few lines that support your nomination to Alexis Kessenich (alexis.kessenich@duke.edu).

*recipient of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation Award from President Obama.
