Get Involved: Bass Connections Opportunities
Bass Connections is currently offering several opportunities for Duke faculty.
- Call for 2020-21 Bass Connections project teams (due Nov. 4): Support for year-long, team-based research projects that engaged faculty, undergraduates, and graduate/professional students in the interdisciplinary exploration of complex societal challenges. Funding ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. In addition to the five themes of Bass Connections, faculty may submit proposals outside of these themes through Bass Connections Open. Through this RFP, faculty may also propose a Data+ or Story+ summer project connected to a Bass Connections team.
- New Collaborative Project Courses Faculty Fellows Program (due Oct. 15): This new program designed in partnership with Duke Learning Innovation will support faculty who want to re-design or design a course that is collaborative and project-based. The program will provide faculty with expert guidance, a cohort of other faculty to work with, and $5,000 in support.
Any faculty member may submit a proposal for these opportunities. Graduate students, postdocs and trainees/fellows may also propose projects (not courses), but all projects must have at least one faculty leader.
Leading a Bass Connections team can help pilot a new research initiative, collect data for a grant proposal or publication, mentor students in a small group atmosphere, or form new relationships with faculty and external partners. Browse faculty perspectives to learn more.
