Duke MEDx Syposium - Modeling Anatomy and Flow in Congenital Heart Disease

Thursday, April 28, 2016 - 8:00am to 3:30pm
Trent Semans Center for Health Education

Duke MEDx is pleased to present the Symposium: "Modeling Anatomy and Flow in Congenital Heart Disease"

Advances in cardiac imaging have paralleled the improved understanding of physiology and expanded treatment options for patients with congenital heart disease. Newer imaging modalities now permit the full geometric complexity of dimensional models, but the fluid dynamics of congenital heart defects remains poorly understood. This Symposium will bring together institutional and national experts in congenital heart disease and computational fluid dynamics to discuss the current challenges in understanding fluid dynamics in structural heart disease, the most fruitful areas for investigation, and how best to proceed with colloaborative research - between Engineering and Medicine, and between Duke and other centers.

Featured Speakers:
Dr. Joseph Kisslo, Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), Duke University Medical Center                          Dr. Puneet Bhatla, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology) and Radiology, New York University School of Medicine
